Hide those gifts!

The Warwick Police Department advises residents that there have been several recent reports of parcel delivery articles being stolen from residential doorsteps. In many cases, the USPS and parcel delivery companies leave them on porches and in doorways, which are often visible from the street. Thieves have been targeting these packages as they often contain valuables. It is recommended that residents expecting deliveries make arrangements to have someone home to accept the delivery, such as a neighbor or relative, or request special delivery instructions of the businesses they are ordering from and the parcel delivery service that will be used.

Residents are also advised not to leave packages or wrapped gifts in view in their cars, especially while shopping. Put all packages in the trunk of your vehicle or otherwise out of sight. Do not leave packages in your car in your driveway overnight.

If you witness any suspicious activity, contact the Warwick Police Department immediately at 401-468-4200, or 911 in case of an emergency.
