READY TO GO: Mike Mallozzi and the Pilgrim baseball team host Vets in a playoff game today.

The high school playoff season will be over soon, but not before a busy stretch this week. Lacrosse, baseball and softball playoffs will be in full swing, while the track state meet is set for Saturday.

In lacrosse action, Hendricken will play in the Division I semifinals tonight at 8 p.m. against Moses Brown. The Hawks are looking for their second state finals berth in a row. Championships in all divisions are slated for Sunday.

The baseball playoffs got underway on Tuesday and will stay at full speed today. Pilgrim hosts Warwick Vets in an elimination rivalry game today at 4 p.m. Hendricken is also in action in a winners’ bracket game at 4 p.m.

The softball postseason is one of the later ones to start, but teams will dive right in today. In Division I, both Toll Gate and Vets are slated for single-elimination games, with the winner advancing into a double-elimination tournament. Toll Gate visits Cumberland today at 4:15 p.m., while Vets travels to Smithfield for a 3:45 p.m. game. Pilgrim will also be in action in D-II, with a single elimination game at home against Middletown at 4 p.m.

If that’s not enough, Saturday is the biggest day of the year on the track calendar. The outdoor state meet will be held at Brown University beginning at 12 p.m. Hendricken is expected to be in the mix for the boys’ team title, while several standouts from Warwick schools will be gunning for strong finishes.

Next week, baseball and softball playoffs will continue, and boys’ volleyball will also get going.
