To the Editor:
I would like to invite all veterans and military spouses in the area to attend the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Hiring Our Heroes hiring fair. More than 50 local and national employers with job openings for veterans and military spouses of all ranks and levels of experience are expected to participate.
The fair will be on October 18 at the Warwick National Guard Armory on Airport Road from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Before the fair begins there will be an employment workshop for job seekers, which will cover a variety of topics, including résumé building, networking and interview tips.
At last year's Hiring Our Heroes fair, 36 local veterans received firm job offers the same day as the event. Of the 50 employers who will be present at this year's fair, all will have positions available and most will conduct on-site interviews.
We know our military men and women are hardworking, and they know how to complete a task when it is given to them. These job fairs help bring dedicated workers together with employers looking to hire individuals with the exact skill set veterans and military spouses possess.
The event is presented in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Hiring Our Heroes Foundation, the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce, the RI Department of Labor and Training, the American Legion, and a number of other local partners. Senator Reed, Mayor Avedisian, and Brigadier General Arthur Floru will all be participating in the event.

Hope to see you there!
