Jay DeJesus and Matthew Forcino, two eighth graders from St. Peter School, placed second at Rhode Island’s National History Day competition in April. The boys, who were honored at Warwick City Hall on Monday, created a website, The Fall of the Berlin Wall, to prove the fall of the wall served as a turning point for the fall of Communism in Eastern Europe. Mrs. Lisa Der Manouelian, their teacher and advisor, said their website “shows how the people’s desire for freedom triumphed over the Communist agenda.” The team will now have the opportunity to compete in the National History Day Competition at the University of Maryland in June.
