The Rhode Island Rehabilitation Association (RIRA) is working toward an innovative approach to vocational rehabilitation, counseling and health, and has announced its first ever conference aimed at integrating eastern and western methods.

“A Holistic Approach to Vocational Rehabilitation & Healing: East Meets West” will take place at the Radisson Hotel in Warwick on April 17. The conference is geared toward practitioners working in the field of rehabilitation counseling, vocational counselors and evaluators, advocates, clinical assessors, case managers, nurses, job developers, teachers, job placement specialists, physical, speech and occupational therapists, consultants and independent living instructors.

It is designed to expose practitioners to some of the many healing practices that are offered in Rhode Island.

The registration cost is $75 for non-RIRA members and $60 for RIRA members. The deadline to register is April 10. Please email or call Sharon Morra, chair of the RIRA Planning Committee, at 462-7848 stmorra@
