While Hollywood grinded out its usual array of horrible hackneyed horror movies, we avoided them and instead attended the 13th Annual Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival.
I enjoyed judging a number of the short films and was pleased that one of my favorites, “Foxes”, was selected and shown at the Bell Street Chapel last weekend, along with five other “Freaky Shorts of Horror.” The best thing about a short film program is if you don’t like one, another will be along in 15-20 minutes.
Congratulations to George Martin, his staff and volunteers for another successful festival. Put it on your schedule for next Halloween. It’s a lot more fun than the run of the mill stuff that comes to the multiplexes.
If I never see another “Paranormal Activity,” “Resident Evil,” “Silent Hill” or “Sinister” I’ll really have something to scream about.
