Howard Jay Krasnow, 69, of Algonquin Dr., died January 2, 2012, after a lengthy illness. For his last three years, he was well cared for by the staff at Summit Commons in Providence. The beloved husband of Maureen (Levy) Krasnow, they were a team and happily married for 45 years.
Born in Fall River, Mass., a son of the late Louis and Rose (Dubinsky) Krasnow, he had lived in Warwick for 42 years. He was the executive vice president of School House Candy, where he worked for 30 years, retiring in 1996. Howard was an avid PC Friars fan and was a member of Temple Sinai and Touro Fraternal Association.
He was the devoted father of Donna Evans and her husband, Joel, of East Greenwich and Lauren Krasnow and her husband, Kenneth Horenstein, of West Hartford, Conn.; loving brother of Carol Schwartz and her husband, Dr. Ronald Schwartz, of Tiverton; and adored "Papa" of grandchildren Jake, Josh, Ryan and Rachel.
Funeral services will be held Jan. 5 at 11:30 a.m. at Temple Sinai, 30 Hagen Ave., Cranston. Shiva will be observed at his late residence Jan. 5 from 7-9, Jan. 6 from 2-4, Jan. 7 from 7-9 and Jan. 8 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and in West Hartford next week.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Temple Sinai, 30 Hagen Ave., Cranston, RI, 02920, for the purpose of increasing handicapped accessibility.
