Identity theft seminar is Feb. 10 at Kent Y

On Friday, Feb. 10 from 11 until 11:45 a.m., the Kent County YMCA will host a seminar on Identity Theft presented by the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office.

The seminar is free and open to the public. The Attorney General’s Office has the goal to inform citizens of the new trends being used in fraud and identity theft, teach people how to avoid becoming the next victim, and encouraging citizens to report any instances of scam or fraud to the appropriate agencies. Among the topics to be discussed are telemarketing fraud, charitable solicitations, advance-fee scams, identity theft and bogus check schemes.
