To the Editor:
Television introduced us to the victims of the horrific shootings in Aurora, Colo., and to the grieving survivors. Americans were dismayed, and President Obama went to Colorado to personally console the survivors.
Imagine the news media telling us about the victims of just one day’s U.S. military actions. If, via television, we could meet the grieving parents or spouses of the deceased, would it affect us? Would President Obama try to console the survivors? Would he consider ordering a moratorium – even for just a day – on killing people by drones and other U.S. weapons systems in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Palestine, Yemen, Somalia, Colombia, Honduras...?
