Mayor Avedisian and Steve Mesrobian of the Rhode Island Chapter of the Armenian National Committee are pictured here on 35th Street, between 2nd & 3rd Avenues in New York City, last Saturday as they joined an estimated 12,000 who participated in the rally sponsored by the Armenian Genocide Centennial Committee of America. As part of the 100th observance of the genocide, in which 1.5 million Armenians were killed and to this day is not acknowledged by the Turkish government, Armenian flags were flown from flag staffs at municipal offices across the state, including Warwick City Hall.
