In leadership positions

Two Pilgrim High School students received recognition for their phenomenal participation in the Boys and Girls State Leadership and Government Retreat sponsored by the American Legion. For more than 50 years these retreats have helped participating high school juniors better understand the government and how to take a leadership role by creating a mock governing body throughout the retreat. They draft, submit and vote on their own bills. Mackensie Caron was elected governor and oversaw the activities throughout the week. Henry Cascella was voted as sergeant of arms for the week and was also nominated to represent Rhode Island at Boys Nation. This program, not unlike Boys State, will be held in Washington, D.C for one week, where he and other nominees will have the chance to meet the president and other congressmen. Mackensie and Henry are pictured together wearing medals.
