Independence Financial Partners donates more than 1,000 items to Harrington Hall

Posted

Hundreds of new men’s socks, gloves, hats, ponchos, hand and foot warmers, gift cards and backpacks for those currently experiencing homelessness in Rhode Island were recently collected in an office holiday drive conducted by Independence Financial Partners. Donations were given to the House of Hope CDC (Community Development Corporation) for those staying at the Harrington Hall Shelter. Harrington Hall, located in Cranston, is the state’s largest emergency shelter, providing year-round shelter for 100 to 130 homeless men each night.

“We are concerned about the impact the lagging economy has had on our community,” said Richard P. Beaulieu Jr., AIF®, CLU®, ChFC®, co-managing partner of Independence Financial Partners. “We’re happy to help the House of Hope CDC, and particularly the men at Harrington Hall.”

The donations come at a good time, as the state’s homeless shelter system is overwhelmed with a growing need from those seeking shelter this winter.

“We appreciate Independence Financial Partners consistently stepping up to the plate and helping out,” stated Jean Johnson, executive director of the House of Hope CDC. “In times like this, when our need is so great, we rely on the generous donations from our community. These simple acts of kindness make a huge difference in the lives of our clients.”

Kevin Beaulieu, AIF®, ChFC®, co-managing partner of Independence Financial Partners, said, “We enjoy supporting the House of Hope CDC because we support their mission to provide affordable housing and to counsel homeless persons to help them overcome the various causes of their homelessness.”

“Today, those who come to Harrington Hall will be a bit warmer thanks to Independence Financial Partners and as the cold weather continues, the importance of that cannot be overstated,” concluded Johnson.
