Rhode Islanders interested in learning more about Career Pathways for the 21st Century, a free program at the Community College of Rhode Island to help them find their ideal career or pathway to higher education, are invited to attend an upcoming information session.

The program, launched in 2010 and offered through CCRI’s Center for Workforce and Community Education, offers career exploration for adults and focuses on helping people break into high-demand job sectors such as health care, information technology, construction, advanced manufacturing, and hospitality and tourism. The program also helps participants hone their skills in math, reading and writing.

Participants will spend 20 hours each week in the program, which also will provide work experiences, including job shadows, tours and informational interviews; distance learning opportunities; case management services; and career coaching that includes referral to appropriate training, job search strategies and development of a long-term career and educational plan.

The program is free to accepted students through funding provided by the Rhode Island Department of Education, and there are no income eligibility requirements. Information sessions are planned for 10 a.m. on Aug. 27 and Sept. 3 at the CCRI Knight Campus, 400 East Ave., Warwick. The next 12-week session will begin on Sept. 16.

To request more information or register for an information session, contact Career Pathways Coordinator Lynn Watterson at 455-6042 or by e-mail at lpwatterson@
