Irene M. (Bouchard) St. Laurent died peacefully April 7, 2012.
She was one of the first WACS to join the military service (Army) and her name is on the Women’s Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. She served 28 years and retired as a master sergeant with several military accomplishments being medals and honors. She was a lifetime member of DAV-Baker Post and a lifetime member of the American Legion and Korean War Veterans and only retired after an injury sustained during military duty. She then worked for the IRS for 18 years, retiring to take care of her sick mother. Her hobbies consisted of beautiful needlepoint, traveling and being an avid reader.
Her funeral will be held April 12 at 10 a.m. from Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 350 Fair St., Warwick. Burial with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
