Under usual circumstances, the 100th day of school would have been celebrated last Monday, but then this hasn’t been the average winter. Snow days pushed the observance off until Friday. John Brown Francis School third grade teacher Sandra Tavitian found her students had plenty of creative ways to use one hundred. They came up with 100 stickers, 100 ninja turtles, 100 sharks, 100 gold fish (the crackers), 100 Lego people and, you guessed it, 100 snowflakes. Pictured are Chloe Pena, who dressed up to be 100 years old; Sabrina Torres with 100 hearts; and Sophia Osmani, who stuck 100 pompoms to a t-shirt. Actually, if you count, there are 99 – one came off before we could get the shot. Also pictured is first grader Craig Robert, who along with his classmates strung 100 Cheerios into an edible necklace after counting them out in 10 lots of 10. And the kids joined in a 100 Cheerio pickup after a necklace snapped – it’s all math. (Warwick Beacon photos)
