To the Editor:
Main Avenue, East (of the Greenwood Bridge) is a dangerous traverse; it’s like the Old Wild West, except it’s East – that area of Warwick that, once again, must suffer the Providence Airport’s Godzilla.
Here is a warning to those who would walk on the sidewalk to go over the Greenwood Bridge from Main Avenue. In the past year a truck carrying cut trees dropped an oak section of approximately 80 pounds that went over the sidewalk, past a guardrail crashing into a chain link fence on private property.
Someone evidently on the way to the dump dropped a tree limb 5 feet long and about 50 pounds ending up on private property. A trailer truck, one of hundreds that travel Main Avenue, East daily, had the right rear-loading door come open as it was coming down from the bridge. The huge door swept the sidewalk. Fortunately, there were no injuries.
Recently, a young man with a seeing eye dog has used this passage. As he was crossing the intersection of George Arden and Main, a turning vehicle saw the situation and allowed them to cross. Usually there would be a honking of horns, screeching of brakes and loud expletives of an un-publishable nature.
Across from this intersection is a pothole of extraordinary ability. It can make a heavy vehicle insertion sound like an explosion. RIDOT has passed on two emails regarding this IED.
The coming winter when the peons are being fined for not clearing their sidewalks, the Greenwood Bridge complex walkways shot-gunned salt. Those same peons who pay taxes for the walkways will be shafted again. “Mayhem” Avenue, is quite a ride.

Why are the drain covers right in the tire path of west bound traffic on the new section of main ave.
In a short time they will be pounded into pot holes, creating another obstacle course. Its not like they didn't know where the painted lines were going to be. Then again it is job security.
