Jade Dragon Restaurant: Open for a special Mother's Day feast

It's a Thursday afternoon, and the booth in the corner is occupied by the familiar faces of Joan and Frank Simonini. Just like every Thursday afternoon (and Joan admits with a wink, even a Tuesday every now and then!), the Simonini's have come to Jade Dragon to treat themselves to both the "tasty and flavorful" food and the warm hospitality of this cozy restaurant on Warwick Avenue. It's a place where they are known by their first names, and where they have shared a regular date since the Chin's opened Jade Dragon over twenty years ago. The Simonini's don't depart too often from their favorites: Joan - Combination Platter #5, Frank - Hon Sel Gai, but they admit, they love everything about Jade Dragon.

And what's not to love about this favorite mainstay of the Warwick restaurant scene? Owners Judy and Rickie Chin are greatly indebted to their customers and pay close attention to what they love to eat and how they like to be treated. They have built an extensive and delicious menu of both popular Chinese food options (Joan's favorite Combination Platter #5 - Pork Strips, Chow Mein and Fried Rice) as well as some more "American Style" favorites such as Broiled Delmonico Steak and Fried Chicken, to name but a few. Everything here is made to Chef Rickie's strict standards of freshness and flavor - and served up with the kind of service usually reserved only for family.

Come escape the hustle and bustle of life and enjoy the home cooking of Jade Dragon. Enjoy their 38 different combination platters, their tantalizing appetizers (egg rolls, crab Rangoon, chicken teriyaki, fantail shrimp, scallion pancakes, beer battered onion rings), their Lo Mein, Chow Mein, Fried Rice, Chip Suey and Egg Foo Yong options! If you are a vegetarian, you will not be disappointed by their huge selection of vegetable and bean curd choices either. Are you hungry yet?

Its about to get even better as owner Judy Chin is reintroducing the much-asked for Passion Bomb to top off your meal! A rainbow of flavor and color, this indulgent dessert is made of layers of raspberry, mango and peach sorbet, coated with white chocolate for that extra punch of sweetness.

Mother's Day is a special day here at Jade Dragon Restaurant. On May 12th, Jade Dragon honors mothers everywhere by serving up a decadent 5-piece Baked Stuffed Shrimp dinner and its wildly popular Bloody Mary Special, topped with three pieces of shrimp cocktail. Your mom deserves nothing but the best, this day and every day at Jade Dragon.

Jade Dragon is located at 1982 Warwick Avenue. Hours are Tues-Thursday, and Sunday from 11 am to 10 pm; and Friday and Sat, from 11 am to 11 pm. Delivery is available ($15.00 minimum purchase). To place a take-out order, call 732-9595.
