Newberry made his season debut on the mound on Sunday, and pitched three scoreless innings of relief to lead Hendricken to a 3-2 win over Coventry and a berth in the state finals.
"The pressure was enormous,” Newberry said. “It was crazy. I was going through my mind, 'Just throw a strike. Coach always says just throw a strike.' That's the name of the game."
