James J. Cullen, III

James J. Cullen, III, 89, of Warwick passed away on February 8, 2014 at home. He was the husband of the late Phyllis (Johnson) Cullen.

Born in Paterson, New Jersey, he was the son of the late James J. Cullen, Jr. and Mary (Timchak) Cullen. Mr. Cullen was a Supervisory Mechanical Engineer for The United States Navy in Quonset, New London and Newport for 25 years, retiring in 1986 and had also served with the United States Navy during World War II. He graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1948 and earned his Masters of Business Administration from U.R.I. in 1968. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Registered Professional Engineers.

He was the beloved father of H. Allethaire Cullen, R.N.C.-F.N.P. of Warwick and the late Dr. James J. Cullen, IV. He was the brother of the late Anita Barrett.

His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be private. www.murphyfuneralhomes.org
