Jean M. (Grinnell) Shoesmith, age 71, formerly of Post Road, Warwick, died on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Cedar Crest Nursing Centre in Cranston. She was the wife of the late David H. Shoesmith.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Irving F. Grinnell and Jennie M. (Bosworth) Edwards, she lived in Warwick for most of her life. Mrs. Shoesmith was employed as a food server at various independent living facilities in Rhode Island before retiring in 2013. She was an avid gardener, and loved to decorate for the holidays.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna M. Crisostomi and Jennie L. McDonald, both of Warwick; seven grandchildren, Crystal, Michael, Michelle, Nicholas, Christopher, Danielle, and Logan; four great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Irving Grinnell of New Hampshire, William Grinnell of Warwick and Richard Grinnell of Warwick. She was the mother of the late William H. Shoesmith; and the sister of the late Barbara Gordon, James Grinnell, Charles Grinnell, and Frank Grinnell.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24, at 10 a.m. in the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited, and may visit at the funeral home on Saturday from 9-10 a.m. Burial will be in Rumford Cemetery, East Providence. www.barrettandcotter.com
