Jennifer Fairbank chairs RI Health Care Association board

Jennifer Fairbank, Executive Director of South County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Kingstown has been elected Chair of the Rhode Island Health Care Association’s Board of Directors. RIHCA is a non-profit organization comprised of 65 of the state’s 84 skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers. The organization advocates on behalf of skilled nursing providers and those they care for on legislative and regulatory issues. It also works to enhance quality in skilled nursing centers as a provider of continuing education for caregivers and others working in the skilled nursing community. Fairbank will lead the association in its advocacy and education efforts for a two-year term beginning this month.

A licensed nursing home administrator, Fairbank graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Rhode Island. She has worked in geriatric and post-acute care since 1997. Under her supervision, South County Nursing was selected as one of the top 100 facilities in the country by the federal Housing and Urban Development program. It was also awarded “Best Place to Work in Rhode Island” by Providence Business News. A competitive equestrian, Fairbank resides in East Greenwich.

Other officers elected for a two-year term include Mark Lescault of Grace Barker Nursing Center in Warren as First Vice Chair; Linda Wheeler-Omiunu of Trinity Health Care in Woonsocket as Second Vice Chair; Anthony Barile of Hopkins Manor in North Providence as Treasurer; Kim Ciociola of Silver Creek Manor in Bristol as Secretary; and Scott Sanborn of Oakland Grove in Cumberland as Immediate Past Chair.

Newly appointed directors to the board include: Steve Coffey of Pharmerica; Deb Griffin of Hattie Ide Chaffee in East Providence; Rick Gamache of Elmhurst Extended Care in Providence; Hugh Hall of West View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Warwick; Donna Amaral of Eastgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in East Providence; Chuck Kenoian of Overlook Nursing and Rehabilitation in Pascoag; Joe Sousa of Berkshire Place in Providence; Akshay Talwar of Briarcliffe Gardens in Johnston; John Gage of Health Concepts, Ltd. In Providence; Trevor Kinney of Genesis HealthCare; and Angelo Rotella of the Friendly Home in Woonsocket.
