Jerome Bennett, 100, passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 at Brentwood Nursing Home. He was the beloved husband of the late Anne (Fee) Bennett for 64 years.

He was a son of the late Albert and Ida (Giffrau) Bennett. Mr. Bennett was owner and operator of Jerry’s Service Station, Hope Street, Providence, for many years. In his youth, he was a skilled athlete at Mamaroneck High School in football and track. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. A United States Marine Corps World War II veteran, VMF 323, he participated in action against the enemy on Ryukyu Islands and in the Asiatic Pacific area as a rifle sharpshooter and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. He was a communicant of St. Timothy Church and an avid outsdoorsman. Mr. Bennett was a resident of Warwick for 60 years and Silver Lake, NH for 27 years.

He was the loving father of Peter Bennett and his wife, Susan; Anne Bennett Darcy, Horizon Bennett and Paul Bennett and his wife, Hedy; brother of George Bennett and his wife, Joan, and the late Edwin Fracas and Helen Jesse; grandfather of Katherine and Jessica Bennett, Brooke Darcy Nordstrom, Brenna, Beck and Thomas Bennett; and great-grandfather of William Hadfield.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Monday, August 25 at 10 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Ave. Burial with military honors will be private. Visiting hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
