See three celebrated Jimmy Stewart performances where America’s everyman teeters on the edge of sanity in Jimmy Stewart Unhinged: A Film Series at Warwick Public Library on Thursdays, November 12 and 19 at 7 p.m.
After WWII, Stewart changed his screen persona from an innocent good guy to a more worldly man who was sometimes broken by the weight his experience.
On November 12, see The Naked Spur (1953), starring Stewart, Janet Leigh and Robert Ryan. A desperate man who lost his home while fighting in the Civil War travels to the Colorado territory to capture and bring back a manipulative killer for a bounty.
On November 19, watch Vertigo (1958), starring Stewart and Kim Novak. A retired San Francisco policeman with a fear of heights becomes obsessed with an old friend’s wife and, after she dies, a woman who looks nearly like her.
