To the Editor:
On hearing the sad news of the passing of the late Governor J. Joseph Garrahy, it immediately came to mind the support he provided the elderly Foster Grandparents that served the special needs residents of the now closed Ladd School.
He came personally to observe the elderly at work, and in one case a Foster Grandmother appealed to the governor to expedite the need of a new chair for her client. He saw the paperwork got completed and the new special chair was put to use within a month.
The door to his office was always open to the program needs and I shall always be grateful for his caring way.
My deepest sympathy to his entire family.
Mrs. Regina B. Richard
(Retired) Foster Grandparent Director
