John C. Gulbicki, 69, of Barre Plains died unexpectedly on Saturday May 16, 2015 at Worcester Medical Center.

He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on August 16, 1945 the son of the late Charles and Genevieve (Kulesza) Gulbicki. John graduated from North High School in Worcester, Class of 1963 and stayed in Worcester working as an electrician until choosing to enter the service 1968. He served in Vietnam with the Mobile Construction Battalion 12 from 1968 to 1969, U.S. Navy Seabees MCB 12. He was proud of his service and loved his country. Following his military service he worked at Norton Co. in Worcester as an electrician, retiring after 34 years.

John was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and truly enjoyed being on his boat whenever he could be. He kept his boat in Warwick, R.I. for the last 20 years and made many lifelong friends who will miss him dearly.

John is survived by his beloved daughter, Joanne R. Gulbicki of Boylston; a loving sister Beverly Ferris and her husband, James of Holden and his former brother-in-law Willard Sweetser of Annapolis, Maryland. He also leaves many loved nieces, nephew and great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Michael J. Gulbicki; and his sister G. Patricia Sweetser.

Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. at Pillsbury Funeral Home, 96 South Barre Road, Barre, MA. The funeral will be held on Friday at 10:00 in the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Glen Valley Cemetery, Barre, MA. Following the burial friends and family are invited for a luncheon and gathering to celebrate Johns’ life at Hartman’s Herb Farm, 1026 Old Dana Road, Barre, MA.
