John E. George, 89, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015. A life long resident of Warwick, he was the beloved husband of the late Amelia (Caduto) George for 57 years.

Born in Warwick, he was a son of the late Giovanni and Maddelena (Pietrantonio) George. Mr. George worked as a screw machine operator for Sherman Screw Products on Valley Street in Providence for many years before retiring. After his retirement he worked for Brada Manufacturing in Warwick. Mr. George was a World War II Army Veteran, serving in the European Theater and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was an avid golfer.

Mr. George was the loving father of Deborah A. George and her husband, Joseph-Anthony DiMaio; grandfather of Bryan J. DiMaio, and Alyssa A. DiMaio; brother of the late Albert, Louis, Carlo, Guy, Americo and Antonio George. He cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 8 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Avenue, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Clement Church, Long Street. Burial with military honors in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are Tuesday, 4-8 p.m.
