John F. Cerio, 87, passed away February 1, 2014 at the West Shore Health Care Center, Hospice Unit. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary F. (Tremmel) Cerio.
He was a son of the late Thomas D. Cerio and Mary R. (LaFazia) Cerio. Mr. Cerio was employed as a toolmaker for many years before retiring. He was a World War II Air Force veteran, past president of the Warwick Figure Skating Club, and an active board member and coach for the Warwick Junior Hockey Association.
He was the brother of Agnes R. Geer, Thomas D. Cerio, Jr., Josephine G. Zarrella, Anthony J. Cerio, Maryann E. Millette, Robert S. Cerio and the late Edward W. Cerio. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and two very special people, Ms. Gladys Miller, a dear friend, and Mrs. Robin B. (Millmather) Ross, a dear friend, who was also loved as a daughter.
His funeral will be held Monday, February 10 at 9 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Rita Church, Oakland Beach Ave. at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Sunday 2-6 pm.
