John J. Cole, 89, a retired truck driver, passed away September 2, 2015 at the Avalon Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Barbara J. (Potter) Cole, RN.

Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Manuel and Mary (Silva) Cole. Mr. Cole was a life member of the Cranston Portuguese Club. A musician, he was a guitarist and played in several groups including Ray Dixon and was a bugler in the Warwick Drum & Bugle Corps and the Holy Rosary Cabelleros.

He is survived by his children, Walter, Kevin and Lisa and their families; a brother, Edward Cole; and 35 nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Anthony, Frank, William and Joseph Cole, Celia Roberti, Mary Salvas, Rose Schiapo and Louise Strachan.

Visiting hours will be held Friday 8:30-9:30 am in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Kevin Church, Sandy Lane. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
