John L. Gormly Jr.
John L. Gormly Jr., 75, of Squantum Drive, Warwick, died at home December 19, 2011. He was the husband of Alyce G. (Seeley) Gormly.
Born in Providence, a son of the late J. Lynn Gormly and Mary (Marshall) Gormly, he lived in Warwick for 30 years. Mr. Gormly was an office manager for RCA Service Co. in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and an estimator/salesperson for Cut Rate Floor Covering of Providence. He retired from the Warwick School Department, where he was employed in the payroll department.
Mr. Gormly served for several years on the board of the WISE union and as treasurer and grievance co-chairman. A member of St. Mark's Church in Warwick, he was a co-treasurer and served several terms on the Vestry.
Besides his wife he is survived by a son, John L. Gormly III and his wife, Sonia, of Warwick; a stepdaughter, Marcia J. Hurley of Tiverton; a stepson, Mark J. Fearney of Providence; a sister, Isabel Mulvaney of Warwick; and four grandchildren, Ashly Gormly, John L. Gormly IV, Jason Berard and Larry Hurley. He was the brother of the late Matthew L. Gormly, M. Cecelia Gay and Agnes G. Gormly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Dec. 22 at 10 a.m. in St. Mark's Church, 111 West Shore Road, Warwick.
