John Spagnolo, 92 of Warwick passed away on September 11, 2012 at West View Nursing Home, West Warwick. He was the beloved husband of Theresa (Dorazio) Spagnolo for 64 years.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph and Lucrezia (Palma) Spagnolo. A 1939 graduate of Classical High School, John earned a degree in Accounting from the University of Rhode Island in 1950. He was an agent for the Internal Revenue Service for 26 years, retiring in 1978, and served with the 8th Army Air Force during World War II, stationed in England. John was a devoted family man and avid Boston Red Sox and University of Rhode Island fan. He enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing, reading and Italian cream pastries.
Besides his wife; he is survived by his son John J. Spagnolo and his wife, Evelyn, of Warwick, and his daughter Linda S. Mitchell and her husband, David, of Charlotte, North Carolina. He was also the brother of the late Vincenza “Vicky” Baronick, Constanza “Connie” Mirabella, Michelina “Lena” Nottage and Mentena Spagnolo. John is also survived by his grandchildren, Bonnie (Spagnolo) Carcieri, Matthew Mitchell and his wife, Allison, Patrick Mitchell; and great-grandson, Benjamin Carcieri.
His funeral will be held Monday, September 17, 2012 at 9 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Timothy Church, Warwick Ave. at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
