John W. Dzyacky

John W. Dzyacky, 78, a retired educator, passed away on January 27, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Susan (Biddle) Dzyacky.

Born in Gary, Indiana, he was the son of the late John Aloyious Dzyacky and Mary (Vicen) Dzyacky. John (Bill) graduated from Lew Wallace High School in Gary in 1953 and earned a B.A. from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo in 1959. He played minor league baseball for the St. Louis Browns in the early 1950’s.

Over many years as an educator, he served as teacher, coach, and principal at schools in Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota and Rhode Island. He was proud of his students and kept in touch with many former students over the years, giving support when it was needed and celebrating successes. At the time of his retirement in 2000, he was assistant principal at John F. Deering Middle School in West Warwick. He had resided in Warwick since 1991.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Joan Dzyacky of Mokena, Illinois; three daughters, five step-children; fifteen grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

A private memorial reception will be held in Warwick.
