John W. “Jack” Fay, Jr., died May 18, 2013.

Born in Providence, a son of the late John W. and Catherine M. “Kay” (Carroll) Fay, Sr., he had resided in Warwick since 1972. Jack was a letter carrier with the US Postal Service retiring from the Garden City Post Office. After his retirement, he pursued a degree in mathematics and loved doing high level math as a hobby. He was also an avid runner. A Vietnam Army veteran, he was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

He is survived by four children, Sean L. Fay, Meaghan C. Fay, Daniel P. Fay and his wife, Shannon, and Peter C. Fay; his grandchildren, Nathan and Natalie Fay; and brother, Gerald Fay, MD and his wife, Sheila; and 3 nieces from Washington state. He was the former husband of Annette (LaVallee) Fay.

His funeral will be held Thursday, May 30 at 9 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Kevin Church, Sandy Lane. Burial with military honors in the Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Wednesday 5-8 p.m.
