State and federal authorities announced that they arrested a Johnston man last Friday and charged whim with possession and distribution of child pornography. Members of the Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force arrested Nicholas Pislowski, age 24, of Johnston on a federal arrest warrant issued on an indictment on charges of possession, receipt and distribution of the materials found on his home computer.
According to information presented to the court, the investigation was initiated in 2012 when members of the Rhode Island ICAC Task Force learned that a computer in Pislowski’s residence was allegedly being used to transfer child pornography.
Members of the task force executed a court-authorized search warrant, which resulted in the seizure of digital evidence and the arrest of Pislowski for Possession and Transfer of Child Pornography. A subsequent forensic examination of the digital media seized at Pislowski’s house identified over 900 videos and over 1,600 images that contained child pornography.
Pislowski pleaded not guilty to the charges on Tuesday and was released on bail. The trial is set for July 24.
