The Gentian Garden Club’s annual meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 22. This meeting will be held at the Glocester Country Club. The theme for the year has been “Garden Settings” and this will be the final meeting for two-year president Lois Hartley. Hartley will be passing the presidency on to Alyce Pedder and Jackie Marro. The swearing-in for the new executive team will be held at this meeting. For the program, Cindy Gianfrancesco will speak on “Protecting our Aquatic Ecosystem.”

The Gentian Garden Club’s spring plant sale will be held Saturday, May 18. The plant sale features perennials, annuals, herbs and vegetables from members’ gardens. Gentian members will be working at the plant sale and are happy to answer questions about gardening and about becoming a member.

On Saturday, May 11, Gentian members will be stepping out to visit the Arnold Arboretum in Massachusetts. Then, on Tuesday, May 14, the Garden Therapy program, “Daffodils and Tulips,” chaired by Carolyn Hanson and Pat Philbin, will be at Courtland Place in Smithfield in the morning and the Village at Waterman Lake in Smithfield in the afternoon.

The month ends with a Junior Activity led by Melissa Machowski and Debbie Marsland. She and her team will work with second and third graders in worm boxes. This is an activity that the children always look forward to.

For information on attending a meeting or joining the club, contact Jackie Marro at 764-0386 or e-mail jcminvt@hotmail.com.
