Joining the pride

District President George Areson swore in Percy Smith, Alexix Smith, Robert Kissinger, Lynn Kissinger and John Gonsalves as new Greater Warwick Lions members at the Greenwood Inn on July 30. The Greater Warwick Lions is a group of volunteers who help members of the Blind, RI Sight Foundation, Hasbro Children’s Hospital, children with cancer, Ronald McDonald House and various people in the community. They also run the cruise night in the summer on Tuesday evenings, weather permitting, at Oakland Beach from 5 to 8. Proceeds from the sale of the 50/50 Raffle tickets are split with the winning ticket holder and the Lions charities. Entry to Cruise Night is free unless you’re lucky enough to be one of the owners of those great old cars; if so, a $2 entry fee is collected from those old car owners and goes to all the Lions charities. The Lions are currently seeking community-minded volunteers who would like to join the organization. There is a monthly dinner meeting held every fourth Monday of the month at 6:30 at the Greenwood Inn. For further information, feel free to contact the Greater Warwick Lions Secretary Laurie Cianci at 474-3343, or email: lauriecianci@cox.net, or Membership Chair Richard Sinapi at 439-6168 or email ras@sinapilaw.com.
