Deacon Joseph A. “Joe” Rose of Warwick passed away July 17, 2013 at the Roberts Health Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth “Betty” (Makin) Rose for 64 years.

Joe was born in Providence, the son of the late Joseph A. Rose and Hazel (Snow) Rose. Joe worked for Bulova Watch Company for 43 years retiring in 1982. He was active in St. Kevin Parish in Warwick and St. Thomas More in Narragansett. He was ordained a Permanent Deacon for the Diocese of Providence in 1979 with a ministry serving various nursing homes. He was a volunteer at South County Hospital and for the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He has been a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus since 1957. He resided in Destin, Florida for many years with Betty. He enjoyed golfing, the beach, maintaining his home garden and most recently working at the Wood Shop at the Pilgrim Senior Center.

He leaves sons Richard and wife, Anne, Thomas and wife, Joyce, and a daughter, Barbara, and husband, William Leahy, all of Warwick. He also leaves eleven grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.

His funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Kevin Church, Sandy Lane. Burial in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Sunday 5-7 p.m.
