Joseph G. Andrade, 85, of Warwick, died May 31, 2013 at the West Shore Health Center, Warwick. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy (Sears) Andrade. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on May 1st.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Antonio and Frances (Rose) Andrade. Mr. Andrade was employed as an injury and compensation supervisor at the Turnkey Post Office in Providence, retiring in 1986. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of Saints Rose and Clement Parish and was a past member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #2295 in Warwick. He enjoyed fishing and golfing. In July 1999, Joe had a “hole in one” on the 12th hole of the Cranston Country Club.
Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Diane M. Andrade, RN, and a son, Deacon Kenneth J. Andrade, and his wife, Helen, both of Warwick; four grandchildren, Jennifer M. Andrade-Seaton, executive assistant of the Salvatore Mancini Resource and Activity Center, and her husband, Dennis of North Providence, Jason M. Andrade, Firefighter, TFD, and his fiancée, Julia Longo of Seekonk, Massachusetts, SGT Sean P. Andrade, RIANG, currently deployed to Afghanistan, and SSG Brian C. Andrade, U.S. Army, Columbus, Georgia; and a great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Rose Ferreira. He is, also, survived by a brother, Anthony G. Andrade, of Bradenton, Florida, and a sister, Mary F. Gadouas, of Coventry. He was the brother of the late Manuel G. Andrade.
His funeral was held from the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday, June 5th with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Clement Church, Long Street, Warwick.
