Joseph J. Carroll, 88, of South Fair Street, Warwick, died December 17, 2011 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence. He was the husband of Dorothy J. (Read) Carroll.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Joseph J. and Rose A. (Carr) Carroll, he lived in Warwick since 1952. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Carroll was employed by Narragansett Electric Co. for 38 years, retiring 25 years ago.

Beside his wife he is survived by a son, Joseph F. Carroll and his wife, Kate, of Cranston; five daughters, Susan J. Caspoli and her husband, Tom, of Jamestown, Jean M. Tart and her husband, Vernon, of Warwick, Cynthia A. Peterson of Los Angeles, Calif., Maggie A. King of Warwick and Christine M. Jutras and her husband, Rick, of Foster; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late William Carroll and Rose Fiedler.

His funeral will be held Dec. 21 at 9 a.m. from Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Ave., Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Peter Church, 350 Fair St., Warwick. Visiting hours are Dec. 20 from 4-7 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
