Joseph “Mickey” Deptula, Jr., 82, of Five Elms Circle, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Kent Hospital, Warwick. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Jane A. (Knox) Gilbert-Deptula with whom he celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary on September 10, 2014.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Joseph and Violet (Smith) Deptula, Sr., he graduated from Aldrich High School and lived in Warwick before moving to Coventry in 1986. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a service technician for Monroe Business Systems, East Providence for 32 years retiring in 1989. After retiring he worked at Stop & Shop.

He was a member of the Kent County Marine Corps League; the Korean War Veterans Association; American Legion Post No. 2, West Warwick; the Crompton Veterans Organization and the Coventry Men's Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Kristy Grayson of Warwick, Debbie Roberson of Cranston and Lori Swanson of Orlando, Florida; one son: Richard W. Deptula of Cranston; one sister: Joyce Baker of Pascagoula, Missippi; one brother: Thomas Deptula of Florida; three step-children: John Gilbert of Warwick, Debbie Southard of Alabama and David Gilbert of Coventry; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Marc J. Deptula.

His funeral service will be held on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
