Joseph V. Connors, age 76, of Gristmill Road, Warwick, died on September 11, 2012 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Rollinson) Connors for 55 years.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Joseph J. and Mary T. (O’Connell) Connors, he lived in Warwick for the last 49 years. He was a United States Navy veteran, and also served with the Rhode Island Army National Guard. Mr. Connors was an electronic design engineer at Atlantek, Inc. in Wakefield for 15 years before retiring in 2005. He was previously employed at Gulton Industries in East Greenwich for 23 years. In 1985, while employed at Gulton, he transitioned a line of products to China. Mr. Connors was a communicant and trustee of St. Benedict Church in Warwick, where he also served as a eucharistic minister, lector, and volunteer in the SPRED program. He was a member of Warwick Council Knights of Columbus #2295, and a former CYO basketball coach and coach for the Warwick National Little League.
He was the father of Lynn Floskis and her husband, Michael of Wakefield, Joseph Connors and his wife, Linda of North Providence, Steven Connors and his wife, Lori of Wakefield, Judith Nadeau of Warwick, and John Connors and his wife, Sandra of Johnston; the grandfather of Gillienne, Kristen Joe, Jessica, Mary-Elizabeth, Caitlin, Joseph II (Jay), Matthew, Erin, Sara, Kevin, Jacob, and Haley; and the brother of Patricia Quirk of East Providence, Deborah McGraw of Tucson, Arizona, and the late Robert Connors.
His family expresses a special thank-you to the Surgical ICU staff at RI Hospital for their care and compassion.
His funeral was held on September 15, from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial in St. Benedict Church, 135 Beach Avenue, Warwick. Burial with military honors was in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
