To the Editor:
We would like to take the time to thank the many people involved in organizing and running the Warwick Junior Rifle Program at Donald “Cookie” Cook Memorial Shooting Range every summer.
This is our daughter’s second year with the program, and we are very grateful to all who donate their time and money to keep this wonderful program going, from Ms. Chris in the office, tallying scores every week, and Jim, who puts himself patiently in front of a line of armed children in order to ensure they are learning proper technique and gun safety, to all the other Warwick Range volunteers and instructors, whose presence every week ensures a smoothly running and successful line.
We’d also like to thank Mayor Avedisian and the Warwick Police for their participation in the Final Shoot, and their generosity and patience in sharing the range with the children and their families. We thoroughly enjoyed spending the past 12 Saturday mornings with you all, and look forward to another summer of shooting next year. Thank you!

and Daphne Eckert

So pleased to see this still goes on while all of the anti-gun nuts are running around shouting half-truths about guns. Keep up the good work.

I'm glad to see this program is still going strong. I joined in 1977 when I was 13, and participated for 3 years. I later went on to spend 20 years traveling the country as a competitive shooter. Starting to compete professionally with a solid foundation of gun safety was a big help. I hope Warwick keeps it going!
