KC Water system flushing may affect pressure

Posted

Depending on weather and system demand conditions, Kent County Water Authority will conduct hydrant flushing in portions of Scituate, Cranston, Coventry, Warwick and West Warwick starting Monday, May 4 and running through May 15 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Areas in Warwick to be affected are Natick and East Natick; Toll Gate Road and Centerville Road Area east to Apponaug.

This flushing is being done to remove the bulk of the accumulated sediments and mineral deposits in our water mains prior to the onset of our winter demand period.

Customers may experience some discolored water and lower than normal water pressure during this period.

Should there be discoloration, the authority advises to run cold water for a short time to clear this up. Crews in the field to monitor this during the hydrant flushing. Any reduction in pressure should be temporary.

Customers with concerns during this flushing period, should call the Kent County Water Authority at 821-9300.
