Ken Wild retires as Langevin's district director, Klaiman steps in

After serving as the district director for Rep. Jim Langevin (D-RI) for more than 12 years, Warwick resident Ken Wild announced his retirement last week. Wild has led the Congressman’s Rhode Island staff since he was first elected to Congress in 2000.

“All good things must come to an end, but this is a tough goodbye,” Langevin said in a statement. “Since my very first days in Congress, Ken has provided the highest possible level of service to me, the office and the constituents of the 2nd Congressional District. He has been a trusted advisor through thick and thin, lending his thoughtful perspective while always keeping the best interests of my constituents in mind.”

Wild will continue to serve as an advisor on Rep. Langevin’s re-election campaign, but said the transition is bittersweet.

“I want to thank the Congressman for allowing me to serve,” Wild said. “I never imagined I would have the honor of working with him through seven terms, and every day has been a true privilege. As I’ve always said, this isn’t a job; it’s an adventure.”

Wild said he is looking forward to retirement, and plans to spend some of his newfound free time on the golf course, with his grandchildren, and with his wife of 43 years, Karen.

Replacing Wild in the District office is Seth Klaiman, who has worked for Congressman Langevin’s campaign team since 2009, serving as campaign manager since 2011.

“Seth has been a key part of my political operation for several years, and I am excited to welcome him to my congressional office,” Langevin said. “I know he will provide great service and leadership in his new position, and I look forward to a seamless transition.”

Klaiman has enjoyed a distinguished career in political consulting, working on the campaigns of Steve Archambault for Attorney General, Elizabeth Roberts for Lt. Governor, Steven Costantino for Providence Mayor, Jack Reed for United States Senate and Bob Weygand for United States Congress. He has a degree from Keene State College and previously worked as program coordinator for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Chief Philanthropy Officer for Rhode Island Hospital and Director of Major Gifts for Providence College. Klaiman said he is looking forward to continuing his work with the Langevin team in his new capacity.

“Ken Wild has set the bar high, and if I can garner even half the respect and admiration he has over the years, I will be a success,” he said. “It has been an honor to work alongside the Congressman on the campaign trail, and I am eager to serve him and his constituents in this new role.”
