Kent County YMCA is site for coat exchange this Friday

Posted

As the weather turns colder, many area folks will feel a little warmer, thanks to the efforts of one local YMCA.

The Kent County Y will be a part of the Annual Winter Coat exchange held on Friday, Nov. 29 at 14 sites around Rhode Island. Throughout November, the Y is accepting donations of gently used and new winter coats to be given out to individuals and families in the local community who are in need. Those in need can pick up coats on Friday, Nov. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kent County Y.

“Our YMCA is committed to helping meet the needs of individuals and families in our communities. This annual event supports the Y’s focus on social responsibility, giving YMCA members and the larger community the chance to feel the spirit of cooperation that we believe exists in everyone. I personally encourage everyone to participate, whether by donating a coat or by picking up a coat,” said Paula Jacobson, executive director of the Kent County YMCA. “During this season of thanks, it is important to be part of a movement that honors both those in need and those fortunate enough to give.”
