Kent Hospital calling for ER department volunteers

Kent Hospital is calling for volunteers who are willing to help the facility’s recently redesigned emergency department and is holding two information sessions July 18 from 9 to 10 a.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. in the Kent Hospital Doctors' Auditorium.

The department has made significant changes during the last six months by introducing a new patient rapid assessment model, which has dramatically reduced waiting time and, in many instances, virtually eliminated it. The rapid assessment model is currently in place from 9 a.m. through 9 p.m. every day. However, these hours are expanding in the next couple of months and more volunteers for first, second and third shifts are needed to help enhance the patient and family experience. The department’s volume ranks among the top 10 percent nationally and serves nearly 60,000 patients a year.

For more information, contact the Department of Volunteer Services at 737-7000 ext. 31328 or visit kenthospital.org.
