Kevin Joseph “KJ” Moran, 60, of Cranston passed away peacefully on March 15, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband Carol Gohl Moran.

He was the son of the late Edward & Jean (Leahy) Moran. Kevin grew up in the Washington Park section of Providence and attended St Paul’s School and Classical High School. After attending RI School of Design he moved to California, working at the San Francisco Chronicle as a graphic design editor until retiring. Kevin received many awards for his design and advertising layouts. He traveled to Russia to provide training in page design for a major newspaper. He taught graphic art classes in California and did freelance design for a number of national publications. Kevin was an accomplished musician, playing several instruments in multiple bands on both coasts. He was quick witted, enjoyed life and was knowledgeable on many subjects; a true Renaissance man.

He is survived by Bernadette McDowell (John) of Warwick, Michael of Cranston, Sean of Providence and Colleen Bacon-Moran of Warwick. He is also survived by Sharon Gohl Mauldin of Dominican Republic and Diane Gohl of Burbank, California. He was the brother of the late Edward (Ted), Patrick, Daniel, and Paul Moran and the late Gary Gohl. He is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews; and many friends on both coasts.

His ashes will be scattered in the San Francisco Bay. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St Rose and Clements Church, 111 Long Street Warwick, RI on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
