Recently, 10 physicians from Kent Hospital attended Learn How To Cook Well, Then Tell Your Patients. The Kent Hospital Continuing Medical Education Program partnered with Sodexo Executive Chef Rafael Peguero and Clinical Nutrition Manager Pam Hill, RD, LDN. They planned this educational event to provide physicians an opportunity to learn the importance of healthy eating, how easy it is to prepare healthy meals and then be able to share this information with their patients. The physicians discussed what they want their patients to eat and why, which foods are nutrient dense and healthier choices that aid in disease prevention. The two-hour event, held in the Kent Hospital kitchen, was a big success among the physicians. That night’s meal consisted of quinoa pilaf with pine nuts, herb crusted tilapia, cranberry orange chicken breast, orange and strawberry cream smoothies and steamed fresh vegetables.
