LAT marks 10th year with performance of ‘Charlie Brown’

Living Arts Theatricks (LAT) kicked off a fun-filled 10th year of LAT theater camp on Monday, Aug. 4 with a full list of activities and a larger than ever group of campers ready to perform this year’s show, “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown.”

The production was led by LAT founder and program director Michael Miele and his staff – director Julia Landry, musical director Lydel Hall, choreographer Ariana Ulak and assistant choreographer Abby James – along with junior counselors Sarah Gallo, Abby James, Derek Magno, Leah McCarvill, Thomas McDonough, Adriana Saccoccio and Brooke Silvestri.

The camp – known for being able to assign roles on Monday and put on a complete stage performance with costumes, scenery, acting, singing and dancing by the weekend – had such a large registration turnout for their summer 2014 camp that an additional show was added to the docket. Half the campers performed on Friday night, and the other half on Saturday night.

“The kids are given their lines on Monday, and by Wednesday they’ve got them memorized,” Miele said during the Saturday show. “By the end of the week we’re in rehearsals, but they do all of this in just one week.”

The camp, offered through the Cranston Parks and Recreation program, is held each year at Hope Highlands Elementary School.
