AT THEIR SERVICE: Ward 5 City Councilman Ed Ladouceur (top right) serves his mother Cecile Ladouceur during Sunday’s special fundraiser at Harbor Lights Country Club and Marina, as his daughter Julie Ladouceur awaits the same service. More than 100 people turned out in support of the first-term councilman.

There were a number of blue, white and red political signs at strategic points on Warwick Neck Avenue Sunday that read: Democrat Ed Ladouceur, City Council-Ward 5.

“We used the signs for directional purposes,” said Ladouceur, a first-term Warwick city councilman. “They were basically for people who had never been to Harbor Lights Country Club and Marina and were coming to the breakfast.”

Sunday’s special fundraiser was more like a Who’s Who in Warwick politics, as more than 100 people turned out at the country club facility to support Ladouceur, who was the overwhelming winner in Ward 5 last November.

“The reason we held the breakfast-fundraiser at Harbor Lights is so people could actually see this jewel we have right here in Warwick Neck,” Ladouceur said while greeting guests Sunday. “I personally wanted people who have never been here before to see what former Gov. [Philip] Noel and his son Joe have developed for the city and state.”

And everyone from former Warwick Mayor Joseph Walsh and State Senator Mike McCaffrey to City Council members Donna Travis and Joseph Solomon attended the event.

“This place is beautiful, absolutely gorgeous,” said Rita Devine-MacDonald, one of the many residents at Saint Elizabeth Terrace who helped Ladouceur during his campaign and attended Sunday’s breakfast. “The design of this interior is stunning. And Ed is just a nice man!”

Although Ladouceur didn’t make an official announcement, supporters say he’ll most likely seek re-election in 2014.
