The Warwick girls' hockey team will be opening the Division I playoffs this weekend, and the Lady Titans will be have some big-time momentum on their side when the postseason starts.

On Saturday, Warwick closed out the regular season with a 4-1 victory over Mount St. Charles. It marked the first-ever league victory over the Mounties for Warwick in the seven-year history of the program.

Trailing 1-0 after two periods, the Lady Titans dominated the fourth period. They got two goals from Kelsey Holmes, another from Emily Fox and one from Abby Ellis to earn the win. Fox also assisted on two of the goals, while Ellis had an assist as well.

In goal, Kayleen Murphy made the lead stand up with 23 saves on 24 shots.

Warwick is just the second Rhode Island team to beat Mount this season, as the Mounties finished with a 13-4 record. All three of their previous losses came to unbeaten La Salle.

The Lady Titans ended the season at 10-7, good for third place in the division. They'll now open the playoffs on Friday against a familiar opponent - Mount. The first game of the best-of-three series will be Friday, with game two on Saturday. A third game will be played Monday if necessary.

La Salle will be taking on Burrillville/Ponaganset in the other semifinal. (Warwick Beacon photos by Mike Zawistoski / MZ Sports Shots @ efotolab.com)
